G&W's Basketball Team
29 January 2011: G&W 41-13 Falmouth&Keogh
Last year’s league champions, G&W had a great start to the new season on Saturday the 29th January. We were concerned that there had only been one practice before the first game, but the G&W started brilliantly, working as a well practiced unit. Each player was amazing and coordinated well with each other, thus the team as a whole was working very well.
The first half saw rough play from both teams, and players were just running up and down the court without much effect. G&W began to pass the ball around quickly, followed by cutting in with lots of sudden attacks. Yosuke, Ashu and Vincent were playing well, and were looking dangerous in attack, but the scores were still low, and neither side could gain a convincing lead.
The second half saw many goals from G&W. Harry showed that he was not just a talent on the football field by scoring 7 points including a 3 point shot in a row, which disheartened F+K with Filippo dominaing the rebounds . The second half was dominated by G+W, and everyone got some good time on the court. Unsurprisingly, the two netballers, Poppy and Toni had an excellent game, and worked well with the guys. The final score was 41-13 to Garden and Weeks, momentum which will surely go into the next game and hopefully another massive win can be expected in the next game.
